The 2012 Louisiana Book Festival arrives Saturday, Oct. 27! Come join the fun in the heart of Baton Rouge at the State Library of Louisiana, Louisiana State Capitol, Louisiana State Museum and nearby locations.
The Louisiana Center for the Book and State Library of Louisiana proudly presents Louisiana's free, world-class literary celebration. This national award winning event offers unique opportunities for book lovers of all ages to interact with exceptional writers, poets and storytellers and enjoy an inspiring variety of book-related activities, exhibitions and demonstrations.

Volunteer Information
Thank you for your interest in the Louisiana Book Festival.Book-loving volunteers are essential to the Louisiana Book Festival’s success. Whether it’s escorting authors, guiding visitors, selling refreshments, working with children in the Young Readers Pavilion or other fun and rewarding assignments, the Louisiana Book Festival wants you to join the Volunteer Team. These pages are designed to give you necessary volunteer information as well as general information about the Festival. Volunteer ProfileVolunteers for the Festival are needed, and typically include employees from Louisiana and Baton Rouge businesses; librarians from public, academic, school and special libraries; high school students; Louisiana writers; undergraduate and graduate students from institutions of higher education; and book lovers in general! INFORMATION CENTERS
Information Centers are located at Spanish Town Road and North 4th Street and in front of the Louisiana State Capitol.
Centers provide information concerning special needs access; arrange sign language interpretation and on-site transportation for visitors with disabilities; and distribute maps, schedules and programs. Reproductions of the LBF program are available here as well.
Additional services include First Aid and Lost and Found.

SPECIAL NEEDS
Free wheelchair accessible parking is available in the south parking lot of the Library (enter from North 3rd Street) and in designated spaces at the southeast corner of the Capitol. See our Overview Map.
On the day of the festival, those with special needs may request on-site transportation at either of the LBF Information Centers. Sign language interpretation is provided. Requests for sign interpretation programs may be made at the LBF Information Tents. Service is limited and will be provided on a first come, first served basis.

Louisiana Writer AwardThe Louisiana Writer Award is given annually to recognize the extraordinary contributions to the state’s literary heritage exemplified by the artist's body of work.

Featured Authors and Other Participants
Featured Authors and Other ParticipantsMore than 145 writers, poets and panelists present reading and book talks or participate in interviews or panel discussions. Most authors will autograph their featured books in the Barnes & Noble Bookselling and Signing Tent about 15 minutes following their featured presentations.
