Lana Laws Downing
Lana Laws Downing picture

Born and reared in Franklin, Lana Laws Downing self-published Heaven and High Water in October of 2011. Downing was educated at St. John in Franklin, Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, and Marquette University. She and her husband Trent reside in the old family home in Franklin.

Heaven and High Water: Fictional stories based on the early life of Alfreda Felterman Laws

Using her mother's recorded words as a springboard, Lana Laws Downing has written eighteen stories of fiction and fact woven together to recreate life as her mother remembered it in a remote logging camp on the shores of Lake Verett in the Louisiana cypress swamp in the 1920's.
